News has circulated the internet claiming that The Federal Government of Nigeria(FG) through the chairman of the Presidential Task Force for Covid-19, Boss Mustapha, has announced Monday, June 8, 2020 as the official resumption data for academic institutions nationwide.
Mustapha who doubles as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation mentioned in a statement that the president, Muhammadu Buhari would ease the lock down on Universities, Polytechnics and other academic institutions.
This is coming after the third stage of lock down was initiated and scheduled to end on Monday, 1 June 2020. It is expected that activities would begin normally one week after. Apart from academic institutions, the Secretary also mentioned that financial and religious institutions would be allowed to recommence activities in earnest.
The ease comes with the condition that all affected bodies would adhere to the guidelines for health safety against the Covid-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, statistics of the virus puts confirmed cases at 7261; recovered cases at 2007; and deaths at 221. The number of cases continue to increase.
