Uoa: Loss Of Associate Professor, Instills Grieve

Dr. Isa Mohammed, former Commissioner of Education Gombe State, and Associate Professor of the Department of Public Administration, UoA, drew his last breath on this earth.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdul-Rasheed N'allah, UoA, in his email earlier to the University Community announces this in discontent, and beseeched prayers for his family.

"It is with sorrow that I announce the passing this morning of our beloved colleague, Associate Professor of Public Administration, Dr. Isa Mohammed, in Gombe after Subhi prayers.

May Allah grant him Aljannat Fiddausi and give the family and the entire university community the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss, Amin.

Dr. Isa Mohammed was former Commissioner of Higher Education in Gombe State. He was a kind and hard working colleague, his papers ongoing external assessment to the rank of Full Professor of Public

Administration.

Please pray for him and his family. And pray for the UofA!

I like to ask you all to keep strong and healthy and please exercize and eat well. May God Almighty continue to support each and everyone. Amin!"

Tribute to Dr. Isah Muhammed

When I joined the Department of Public Administration in 2004, Mal Isah Muhammed as we fondly call him in the Department was the first staff to get very close to me. And we have been friends more than colleagues. I had no office accommodation for sometime and when readjudstments were done by our late HOD, Dr. Kuna to provide an office for me, Isah volunteered to share his office with me.

We were on the same rank ( Lecturer 11) and our promotion year was the same so we moved in rank together until he took a leave of absence to serve his state Gombe as Commissioner for Higher Education when I moved to Associate Professor and eventually Professor ahead of him.

I remember when we visited Gombe to commiserate with the family of late Dr. Kuna, Isah took me to his house, although I had to stay with Dr.Bafeto who Registrar in Gombe then.

Just last year December, Isah joined me in Cairo, Egypt for the Annual Roundtable Conference of the African Association for Public Administration and Management (AAPAM), and he agreed to share my double bed hotel room with me.

Isah was an administrator who was a stickler for processes and procedures.

He was diligent and a meticulous keeper of records. He loved the Department which he once headed and we both shared a common passion to fight for the integrity of our Department.

My colleague professors in the Department last year assessed and recommended him for promotion to the rank of Professor upon his return from his leave, a process which is yet to be completed by the University.

Dr. Isah, one of the pioneer staff of the Department will be solely missed by us for his friendship, commitment and dedication to duty.

We spoke a week ago, and he told me he was in lockdown in Gombe. That happens to be our last conversation.

I hardly write tributes, but for you Dr. Isah, I have to do this. As you are buried today, I say, Good bye dear friend.
